Why Spend the Time to Prepare for your Photos?

Having your home ready to go when I arrive will help me to spend most of, if not all of, my time shooting rather than arranging. Also, it will maximize the effectiveness of your photos in the eyes of a potential buyer and keep the overall cost down as we all know efficiency is cost-effective.  To capture the best shots possible of your house, there are a few things to do before hand to prepare, which will help us get wonderful photos of your home and display your house at its best.


The typical shot list includes exterior front and back (including any
obvious features.) All the Primary interior rooms, but generally NOT closets, or garages unless requested.

  • Please remove, or contain, any pets as well as any obvious evidence of
    pets as this can be a potential “turn off” to your viewers. Pets may also
    present a shooting hazard when passing by the camera equipment.
  • Remove vehicles from the driveway and do not park directly in front of
    the home. Try to move at least as far as your next door neighbor’s house.
  • Remove any garbage cans and gardening tools including hoses and
  • Mow and rake yard. Sweep driveways, sidewalks, patios, and decks.
  • Clear off countertops in the kitchen and bathroom areas. Especially
    tooth brushes, mouthwash, and brightly colored soap bottles!
  • Remove any pictures, notes, magnets, or papers from your refrigerator.
  • Turn on all interior and exterior lights, both lamps and overheads.
  • Turn off all fans, televisions, or anything else that may move during
    the camera exposure.
  • Open all blinds to the same position whether half way, or 3/4. Open
    curtains and let the light in!
  • Declutter as much as possible. Rooms that are excessively furnished
    will appear smaller and may not photograph well.
  • Tidy up bedrooms. Smooth out your bed spreads, fluff and arrange
    pillows. Tuck trash cans out of sight.
